1. Acceptance
By creating, opening or using a locker, you agree to these Terms and to the related Privacy Policy. If you use the service on behalf of a company or organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to bind that entity to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Service description
Boxes provides a digital locker service that may allow users to create a locker, authenticate with an email address and password, save notes, upload files, store images or scans, and use password-reset or contact features when enabled by the operator. Features, storage limits, encryption modes, supported file types, rate limits and visibility of lockers may change from time to time for security, operational or commercial reasons.
3. Accounts and credentials
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your locker email, password and any local recovery details.
- You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
- You may not share access credentials or attempt to bypass access controls, rate limits, IP restrictions or administrative controls.
- If password recovery is disabled, lost credentials may not be recoverable.
- You must promptly notify the operator if you believe your account or a locker has been accessed without authorisation.
4. Acceptable use
You may use the service only for lawful purposes. You must not use the service to store, transmit, upload, reference or distribute content that is illegal, fraudulent, abusive, harassing, defamatory, invasive of privacy, infringing, malicious, exploitative, or harmful to children. You must not upload malware, ransomware, phishing material, credential dumps, unlawful copies of copyrighted works, or material that violates export, sanctions, surveillance or data-protection law.
Do not upload illegal content. File limits and allowed types are enforced by the administrator.
5. User content and ownership
You retain rights you lawfully hold in the content you submit, store or upload. You grant the operator only the limited rights necessary to host, process, secure, back up, transmit, index, display and make the service function. You represent and warrant that you have the rights needed to use, upload and store your content and that your content does not violate law or third-party rights.
Standard notes and standard files may be processed in readable form by the service as needed to operate the product. Encrypted notes or files, where such modes are enabled, are intended to reduce operator visibility, but no system should be considered perfectly risk-free.
6. Operator actions
The operator may monitor service health and security, apply filters, restrict features, block lockers, remove illegal or harmful content where permitted or required, enforce storage or file-type policies, investigate abuse, preserve evidence, and comply with lawful requests, court orders or regulatory obligations. The operator may disable or limit recovery features, admin visibility, or public search functions where needed to protect the service or its users.
7. Availability, backups and security
The service is provided on an "as available" basis. Maintenance, upgrades, outages, attacks, infrastructure failures, third-party disruptions and user-side device issues may affect access or performance. Although the operator may implement security measures such as password hashing, session controls, optional whitelist checks, and encrypted storage modes, no online service can guarantee absolute security or uninterrupted availability.
You are responsible for keeping independent copies of critical content unless the operator has expressly committed in writing to a backup or retention plan.
8. Suspension and termination
The operator may suspend or terminate access, block lockers, or delete content to the extent permitted by law when necessary to address abuse, unlawful content, non-payment, security risks, operational burdens, inactivity, or breaches of these Terms. You may stop using the service at any time. Termination does not affect rights or obligations that by nature should survive, including security, audit, payment, intellectual-property, privacy, record-keeping and liability provisions.
9. Disclaimers and liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted availability, or error-free operation. The operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary or consequential loss, including loss of profits, data, reputation, opportunity or business interruption, arising from or related to the service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including mandatory consumer rights, liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that applicable law protects from exclusion.
10. Privacy and data protection
Your use of the service is also subject to the Privacy Policy. Where applicable law requires it, the operator will process personal data in line with that policy and applicable data-protection rules. If you upload personal data about other people, you are responsible for having an appropriate legal basis and for providing any notices required by law.
11. Applicable law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at the operator's place of establishment, unless mandatory local consumer or data-protection law requires otherwise. Courts with jurisdiction at the operator's place of establishment, or any other court required by mandatory law, may hear disputes arising from or related to the service.
